17th century monks in Bavaria were required to fast during Lent, avoiding solid foods entirely. Rather than stick to water, they chose to brew a potent lager with a lot of carbs. They named this beer "sankt-vater-bier" which translates to "Holy Father Beer". This is my attempt at a Holy Father Beer.
A tiny little lager that I generally brew as a sort of giant yeast starter for bigger lagers that just happens to taste pretty good too.
Recommend a yeast starter for this heavy-duty giant of a beer.
It's that time of year!
Very hoppy but easy drinking American Pale Ale.
Decant a 3L starter of White Labs WLP840, ferment on the cold side for as long as it takes then lager 4 weeks.
